I am writing early-ish on Thursday evening, sittin in Changi Airport. Our flight isn't until 2am, so typing is a good way to pass a little time. Perhaps I'll update this in a few hours, should something unxepectedly interesting happen. Flying this route is not very efficient - we have a similar issue in Istanbul, with two days and one night to fill before our next flight. Luckily the flight out of Istanbul is not so ridiculously late, but we still have to check out of the hotel and then fill another day.
Anyway, I'm getting ahead of myself. These blogs are generally abouit the recent past, not the near future. Though I must mention that Lynn noted this morning that there is more disruption in the middle east and flights through the UAE are delayed, so it was good that we made the change a few weeks ago.
So today we got up and had the standard hotel buffet breakfast. Decent but not exceptional. Then we got organised and checked out. We could have got a slightly later checkout at 2pm, but it didn't really help us as we'd have to be back at the hotel in the middle of the day. Then we went out and walked the now-established route to our hop-on, hop-off (in future just HOHO) bus. A change of buses and we were at the Artscience Museum at Marina Bay. That's this place:
It had two exhibitions on. One about the deep sea, using footage from submersibles, and one from teamLabs. I'd heard of them because I wanted to go to one of their exhibits on Tokyo, but it was booked up, so this was a good opportunity. It was great, all interactive light installations. The first one hads images of flowers growing but also swirls of light that followed you around the room.

And too many other weird interactive things that would take a long time to describe.
The deep sea exhibition was fine. There were walls of whale videos and strange soundscapes, but it wasn't quite as compelling. After that we went into the Marina Bay shopping centre and found a tea shop for a lunch and rest. It must have been around 2.30 when we got back on the bus, and it was a long route. It took at least a couple of hours to go around the city, so although we'd planned to get out at Orchard Rd and find an icecream shop we didn't have the energy and just rode the buses back to near our hotel.
Fortunately I was able to find another icecream shop, Dopa, on the walk back. According to some list online it was meant to be one of the best in Singapore. It was good, but not that great, we've had better in Adelaide. At least it was refreshing - it's been well into the 30s the last two days, and very humid, so all of this wears you out, particularly as the tops of the buses are open.
We got back to the hotel by 6pm and had a break then sorted out our bags - which is an endless task while travelling. Then took a taxi to the airport. This largely brings you up to date. It's about 10.30pm now, so less that four hours to our flight. Surely there's a more efficient way to do things than this, though I don't know what it is.
